Dr. Ali Atkison has always been passionate about her community. Her recent partnership with the Indiana Canine Assistant Network (ICAN) and the release of her book, “How’s Your Computer-Side Manner? Nine-Digital Communication Mistakes You’re Making That Are Holding You Back“, demonstrate her commitment to making a difference. 

That’s because Ali has generously agreed to donate 10% of the proceeds from her book back to ICAN, and this contribution will continue for the lifetime of the book. 

Ali has always treasured her profound bond with animals, finding solace and inspiration in their presence. In addition, her commitment to nurturing vibrant communities is a testament to her unwavering dedication and vision for an interconnected and flourishing society. 

Before moving to Indianapolis, Ali lived in Colorado, where she volunteered at both a local animal shelter and a service-dog-training organization. It was these experiences that sparked her interest in giving back to her community.  

When she moved to Indianapolis four years ago, Ali found ICAN. She felt lucky to find an organization in her new home that shared her dedication to transforming lives through animals. 

“Finding ICAN was serendipity. The mission has been life-changing for me,” Ali said. 

Full-time, Ali works as a Facilitator, Coach, and Keynote Speaker for the Leadership Development Company, HRD, in Carmel.  

This means that communication, the subject of her new book, is fundamental to Ali’s life and professional experience. In fact, her new book deals with nine digital communication errors that people often make. 

Ali’s communication tips are versatile, working not just for professional connections, but also for romantic, familial, and other personal relationships. 

“Communication is one of the most valuable tools for impactful relationships in our lives. That’s what it’s all about for me,” she explained. 

Ali’s passion for effective communication aligns with her dedication to ICAN’s mission, as both focus on making a profound impact in people’s lives.  

“Seeing the true change a service dog can make to someone’s life is incredible and that’s why ICAN’s mission is easy to get behind,” Ali shared. “I hope the profits from my book can help make a big impact for this incredible organization.
