Mobility Assistance Dogs

You can find stability and independence with a mobility assistance dog.

We train mobility assistance dogs to perform helpful tasks for children and adults who use wheelchairs or have light mobility challenges.

We train our mobility assistance dogs to master a variety of skills, such as:

Picking up and retrieving objects

Opening and closing doors and cabinets

Tugging off your socks or jacket

Pushing automatic door and elevator buttons

Acting as a brace to help you get up or walk up/down stairs

Turning light switches on and off

Bringing you an item by name, such as a cane.

And more!

Meet an amazing ICAN client

ICAN client Ann, who lives with a form of Muscular Dystrophy was paired with her dog, Parker, in January 2022.

He goes with Ann everywhere and helps her overcome mobility challenges by acting as a brace to help her stand, counterbalancing her as she walks, and picking up and retrieving objects.

With a mobility assistance dog, you can become more independent and get around with confidence.
